In-Store Leader Focus—Kirk Smith

Kirk Smith, Branch Manager, has been in his role for a little over one year. When joining the in-store team, he learned that the branch’s relationship with the Walmart Store manager was a negative one. Understanding the importance of a strong and healthy retail relationship, Kirk has determined to turn this relationship around. During a recent visit with his FSI Trainer, Kirk was provided with several recommendations which he and his team could implement to further their work in building this relationship. One idea specifically was to hold a combined branch activity allowing shoppers to bowl for prizes using a frozen turkey.

Kirk was so excited about the opportunity; he immediately approached his store manager. To add extra value, the branch’s members and Walmart shoppers will be asked to donate food or toys to a local charity. All donors will be placed in a drawing to determine the bowling contestants. A drawing box will be placed at the branch and at the Walmart Customer Service Desk.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 10th at noon. The store manager liked the idea so much that he agreed to hold the contest in the ‘Main Action Alley” between Men’s clothing and the Shoes Departments. Each bowler will have 3 throws to knock down 10 2-liter bottles of soda. The bowler with the highest score will win a $500.00 Visa Gift Card.

Kirk has asked the TwinStar Credit Union’s Marketing Department to design posters and statement inserts for the event. The retail partnership is taking a turn for the positive. Congratulations to Kirk Smith, his in-store team and Walmart.
