You Think That’s a Good Deal?

Theme: Stranger Things (very popular show on Netflix)

Dates: 10/1/29–10/28/19

Budget: $50–$75

We decorated our branch in a Stranger Things (Netflix) theme. In the back of the branch, we crafted a 6′ x 6′ “Demogorgon, The Prince of Darkness”. This took 4 hours to craft and put it on the wall.

In front of the branch, we re-created the “Upside Down World” where the “Prince of Darkness” lived. Decoration included sprayed-painted, black, dead bushes with spider webs, and upside down trees that looks dead. On the large wall of our branch, we re-created the living room of the desperate mom and her child, Will, who was stuck in the Upside Down World. We used a couch found on the side of the road and borrowed older, family furniture from 70’s. Our ceiling was decorated with Christmas lights, because this was the only way for the mom to communicate with her son.

Every Friday, we dressed up as the characters from Stranger Things.

We hosted a coloring contest for children with a chance to win free Culver’s meals. This was super fun for the kids! They kept coming back for more coloring sheets and candy and to take pictures of our branch. The staff stood in the front of the branch passing out candy to shoppers.

The Assistant Manager and I visited nearby businesses and took them Halloween bags with MACU brochures, pens, writing pads, and candy.

We had three employee contests:

  1. The person who gave out the most new member referral brochures within a time frame won free PTO. If they gave out 30 brochures, they earned 30 minutes.
  2. The person who gave out the most loan promo specials within a time frame won a gift from MACU.
  3. The person who had the most loan/VISA applications at the end of the month won free gifts and time off with pay.

We accomplished so much!

Our branch goal was to get as many loan/VISA applications as possible. The loan promotion gave members an extra 0.25% off on their consumer secured, unsecured closed end and share secured loans. For our new referral program, our goal was to give every single member we helped a brochure for the program.

We successfully gave out over 100 loan special flyers and over 300 referral brochures in a 2-week time frame. We reached 75% of our monthly loan goal, due to slowness within the store. Overall, we consistently talked to all of our members about the loan promotion.
